Founded in 1987, Casa Samba is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich traditions of Afro-Brazilian music, dance, and culture with the New Orleans community and beyond.
Our Mission
Casa Samba exists to bridge cultures through the universal language of rhythm. We educate, inspire, and unite communities by sharing authentic Afro-Brazilian traditions while honoring the cultural connections between Brazil and New Orleans.
Our History
Casa Samba was founded at Tulane University and was officially proclaimed the first samba school in New Orleans by Mayor Sidney Bartholomew on July 21, 1993. For over 35 years, we have been at the forefront of bringing Brazilian culture to the Gulf South, performing at countless festivals, cultural events, and celebrations.
